I had this serious problem with my GRUB boot loader, which I fixed two days ago and got Windows XP working again, yahoo ... but in the meantime I was forced to use Linux through the boot disk setup made for me, and I figured I might as well get used to the OS until I fix the loader. And now I'm only going to Windows time to time ... Linux is so much more stable, cleaner-looking, responsive, and I just like the way it works in general. Plus you get to see if your computer is functioning correctly during the bootup, one thing Microsoft hides from you and puts that lame DOS-like progress bar on the screen instead. Now all I need are some more useful progs to get this OS to work! Linux rules!! All the linux programmers here: keep it up, you're making for a good cause!
And some trolls go to linux newsgroups declaring linux sucks. Yet in 2k with service packs installed, the file manager ALWAYS take a few seconds to read the stupid CD icon which is the same every time I insert a CD and open My Computer.
I don't need no stinking service packs on Linux and most distros beat 2k in terms of browsing files. Right now I'm enjoying the top speed of the underrated iceWM and XFCE.
In the Portugese version of the Linux text install as said on my old 486, Linux is translated to Linuxinuxx ... ??? lol Sounds kinda funny.
I got a worse peeve on XP - When I click start and point to All Programs, it hangs for like 8 seconds of a blank box, then loads the stuff into it. Doesn't that suck? That's one of the things that will happen to people, but there's no way to fix it, and if you send an email to microsoft about it, that'll charge you ten bucks and say they don't care.
Microsoft is ok, but I think Lunix can still lick Microsoft
