Linux Redhat Help

I downloaded Linux Redhat v8 from the Linux FTP... Here is where the problems start.

I opened these ISO files with WinRar. I exracted these to "New Folders"

CD1
CD2..etc

Now I have these all in folders, and in plan view. Sounds as if it is working so far I guess. Ok..

I got the boot disks and things sorted out. I get the Linux (boot)Screen at bootup. But I get an Error that it can not find the cd?

Why, Where, How?.

I have always had Linux from version 6.2 it is only this is a problem with the downloaded version. Liunx I am used to and can run/use etc.

Is there a "SIMPLE" way to correct this. I have read a lot of posts about this. But they are never straight forward answers.

I am on: WinXp Pro.
I Used: Roxio Easy CD Creator.
Version: 5.3.1.154 SP4

If you havehad this problem and sorted it out. Send me an email to: shutdown@ntlworld.com

Thanks...

Ian.

Ummm i kinda get you...

Let me go through this...

Step 1.
Burn the .iso images to disks making sure you burn them as .iso not as data...

Step 2.
Make sure your bios is set to boot from c.d and have your disks in...

Step 3.
Follow the simple instructions of the installation program and you should be away...

You don't just extract them and make a bootdisk...

Any more problems just post em up here....

Thank you... I have just started to download them all again.

Redhat 8.
Mandrake 9
Suse. etc...

my BIOS etc is set to boot. This is the reason I knew something was wrong with it all. I have Linux 6.2 (long time ago I got that.) and it boots at startup.

Thank you again. I am sure not only me will get help with this information.

Ian.
