Linux programming Questions

Hi,

1. Are there any good programming forums for Linux where you can ask user programme questions?

2. Does anyone know the windows conversion of kbhit in Linux?

The basic problem is that we have a console menu system in windows that we are porting to Linux. We kbhit to test if there is a key pressed. If no key pressed we do "x", or we get the key (using getchar) and handle to key.

3. What sort of functions are available for reading/writing/manipulating console text?

thanks,
Rich

3) read the Glibc manual, it has sections on I/O for various levels (medium, low, etc).

2) Depends on what your program is, console based, GUI based? In the end, it will probably deepened more on the library you use to get such events.
