Linux Programming For Newbies.

Hi,
I have posted once about this in the past and did not find the answer I was looking for.So here I go again.I have been using Linux Distros for our 5 years. I have used multiple distros, KDE, GNOME and many variations of each. I love using FOSS and I want to help develop it. However I do not have much experience that is required. I am basically very young at 18 so I want to learn how to help develop FOSS in the next 6 Months. I have till date worked with VB,Embedded C and non GUI C for Linux and Windows. However I am unable to find any info on going further. That is I want to know if any of you know a tutorial which teaches you the GUI programming , GTK, and others required to write GPL Software and help develop it.Either they are too simple or too complex covering specific issues. So do let me know.

P.S:I am sticking to C so I don't want Python,Perl,Java ..... or anything else.
