Linux Poker server

I'm trying to setup a poker server on my Linux ( SuSE 10 ) server that will allow other users to connect and play.

Is there any software available that will allow me to run a poker server that my friends will be able to use as well ?

The main problem is that everyone else is using Windows so the client would have to be cross-platform and I haven't found anything suitable yet.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

How about pokerTH?

http://www.pokerth.net/

It's a open source poker application - you'll find the linux and windows versions on their website.

I've only played single-player on Ubuntu (7.10 and 8.04) and have found no problems with it. That would be my first suggestion.

I've tried this before. The repo version of Boost is too old and I'm having trouble installing the updated version

"Saying "doesn't work" doesn't help. Posting (exact) error messages might.

I have fixed the problem; It was a dependancy error.

The PokerTH server runs fine now and is good but it lacks user management. By this I mean that anyone can start a game and chip counts are not stored. I would prefer it if players had to register so that if they won a game they could carry their winnings through to another game. Also user registration would allow me to specify certain players as "admins" and only they could start games / kick players etc.

This would be particularly helpful for me. I would not mind paying for a shareware or trialware licence if I needed to should any programs be available.

How 'bout talking about this to the developers? It's open source so I've got a hunch that they'll pay attention - setting up such a service isn't that difficult - bandwidth, cpu power and some storage. If no real money is involved then the setup may be less complicated.

Yeah, I've put up a post on the development forum. Other than that the client runs superbly. The resources needed aren't that great and it could be a very good program
