linux patch add


hi all,
I want to know the procedure, how to add patch to the sched.c file. I ve a patch file with extension .diff.bz2.
I want to patch and recompile the kernel.
Is there any documents for that? How can I do Patch the Kernel?

move into the directory with kernel source, place the patch file in the parent directory. The patch is named patch.diff.bz2

Code:
bunzip2 ../patch.diff.bz2
patch -Np1 -i ../patch.diff
Thats assuming its a standard kernel patch.
