Linux Partition Suggestions
I'm installing RedHat 7.3 and I have two hard drives:
1. 40 GB 2. 30 GB I'm hoping to use this mainly as a web server and a FTP server. I'm not expecting too much traffic nor will I have too many users. So how do you guys suggest I divide up my space? Thanks. |
At first I thought you wrote that you had a 1.4GB disk and a 2.3GB disk :-)
Then I read more carefully. Whew, that's a lot of disk space for a low traffic server! You don't have any restrictions as to how to divide this much space up. I suppose if I had two disks of those sizes, I'd boot from the 30GB and use the bigger drive for the web and FTP services. I wouldn't go hog wild on allocating all that space for the OS on the first drive though. I'd use around 8GB for the OS (maybe 1 GB for /, 5GB for /usr, and 2GB for /var). Check out the Multi-Disk-HOWTO at http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/doc...s/html_single/ It might give you some ideas. |
Why don't you install RH 8.0 ?
