First of all I do not follow you.
Do you want to upgrade the glibc to the current version or the whole system to rh9.0.To upgrade the rh9.0 you have to boot from installation cd and choose upgrade.Even if you do a new install and do not format the partition ,your previous data woud not be deleted!
