Linux MP3 Serving

I'm trying to get a linux mp3 server together. Something I can leave sit in my home entertainment center and stream my MP3 collection from as well as hook up through my TV so i don't need a monitor too. So here's my questions:

1. I plan on running red hat 8 and want a video card that will work properly with redhat and allow me to view my desktop on my TV with a minimum of fuss if possible. Will an All in Wonder do this?

2. I'd like to have the ability to use a remote control as well. Again All in Wonder comes to mind as one of the few out there with remotes. Will this be compatible with redhat and is there a MP3 player out there that will work with it correctly so I can use the remote Like it should be used?

3. How about video files? Is there a player out there that will play video files and whats the best DVD player for redhat as well?

Thanks in advance for any help. I really want to make this a linux box and avoid using windows all together if possible. Thank you,

Here's some ideas:

First off, I'd think MPlayer will work fine for you for your video needs. Here's a list of cards that are in the docs from Mplayer's site, and how to get them working:
http://mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/video.html#tv-out

Next for the remote portion. That's also in the DOCS, and might even work for your mp3 streamer as well if you want (since mplayer also plays mp3 files)
http://mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/documentation.html#lirc

And here's a project that is aimed at being ran on a TV, plays video via mplayer, has lirc (remote control) information, plays TV from a TV tuner card, even displays images. It's skinnable, and I think it's a decent idea if you can get it running
http://freevo.sourceforge.net/

Good Luck, and let us know how things go

Cool
