Linux - Mobile PIII performance
Hello everyone,
I have a Toshiba 2755DVD laptop with a 600 MHz Mobile Pentium III (w/ SpeedStep feature). I've been running Linux on it for some time now. But, I've recently discovered that the system is recognizing the processor as only 300 MHz. In the past, it had seemed that apps were taking a little longer than expected to start up and run - and this discovery verifies that pattern. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem on a laptop with a similar chip. If so, are there any steps to solve it. Mainly I wish to at least have the kernel (and I'm currently running 2.4.17) recognize the true speed of the processor. Thanks in advance.
