How to tune kernel in RHEL 6 for oracle 10 G

install Oracles rebuild of rhel

they explicitly built "Oracle linux" to run their database
also 12 g is the current

Out of the first page of hits (dogpile) for the search terms "oracle rhel tuning", a couple are books (which look useful....but they are books), one concentrates on the use of NFS, which may or may not be relevant, and the rest look like the sort of thing that you want.

The one that mentions "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Oracle Tuning Guide 85. Chapter 26" looks pretty much like a direct hit.

As usual, the internet knows more about this than I do. Oh, dear.

And I'll add that if you read the installation instructions for Oracle, it tells you what to do, in order to get it working. After that, your question is too vague. 'Tune' WHAT? For what result? Without knowing:

• What kernel
• What patch level Oracle is using
• How many users on the database
• How many users on the server
• What other services (if any) are on that server
• How big the database is
• What media the storage is on
• How the database is layed out, and on how many spindles
• etc., etc.

...there is NO WAY anyone can tell you. Also, Oracle 10 is old...load the latest, and if you have questions about it, you should contact Oracle support. Oracle is NOT a free product, and if you use it, you need to pay for it.
