I think that article was written by a guy who does not know what he is talking about. Another ignorant ass making Linux look worse than it is, possibly because he was paid to.

I really bugs me when people open their mouth and insert a foot.

Well actually the article was written by a woman.
I'm not anything near a sysadmin (and won't ever be - I'm an system/business analyst), and pretty new to linux, but I'm pretty committed to using it on my laptop (if I can ever get things to work ). I think it would be great if we had a box at work just to do some pre-development work on, and it's much easier (I think) to setup an environment in linux for java than in windows. It'll take only 20 minutes to get Java, j2EE, apache and tomcat all working together. Of course mysql is already on here.
So, from this point of view, it's good already. My big problem and yes I'm new, is installing and using programs for more personal/entertainment and fiddling use. Eg, upgrading mozilla (just puts it in a new directory, doesn't really 'upgrade' it), installing everybuddy, among others. Again, once I find hte problems solved from my point of view I'll be more than happy. Moved away from the subject there, but I was on a rambling roll

What I've seen and read it really depends on the person. The new linux (ghetto??) allows a build up system from scratch sorta thing. With the right knowage it can be perfectly tuned etc..
Linux almost owns my pc now..especially with the wolfenstien single player just released opps..off topic..
