Linux isn't detecting my cd-drive.

This is weird- I recenlty installed a second hard drive and didn't touch my original cpu cd-rom drive. I started it up and installed a fresh copy of mandrake via DOS and once loaded it wouldn't detect it. I checked to make sure that I didn't accidently unplug anything but It's all good. Any ideas?

mandrake must have an hardware conf tool...find it and run it then see if the mandrake finds your cd-rom drive ..if it finds it it will be on the mount dir > /mnt/cdrom ;] maybe the mandrake has found it but you dont see it...try from some mandrakes program to find new hardware...

I've tried Redhat, Lindows, Lycoris and Mandrake... I still don't know which one to use.
Choose the distribution that compares and likes exactly on your hardware and is good for your machine...and the applications that it provides...

I've tried just about everything I can think of.

Ok, what's funny is that Windows isn't detecting it either. Bah. The bios isn't detecting it either. So confused...

Yes, go through and check your wiring again, and then check to see your master/slave setup on each IDE device. Probably doesn't have to do with Mandrake, but your hardware setup.
