Linux installation doesn't see Windows 7 partition
Good day,
I am trying to dual boot Win7 Prof. and either Fedora or Ubuntu/Kubuntu Linux on a Gateway 820GM. The hard drive is a brand new WD 320 sata.
- I have tried installing Linux first on an empty drive, but it fails to recognize the installation after the reboot ("No boot device found"). Going back into the partitioner show the install partition normally.
- Installing win7 works great, but trying to install either distro after shows the entire HDD as free space.
- I have installed Ubuntu though windows, and it brings me to the windows boot loader, lets me choose ubuntu, but then stays at a blinking cursor.
- Both distro's appear to run fine off the live cd.
I would appreciate any input. I hope I dont have to resort to VMWare to get my homework done!!
TIA
