Linux Flash Player ???
 
I searched threads to get Flash Player Installed....but nothing much found ?

I have Mozilla firefox 3.0
I installed flash-plugin-9.0.124.0-release.i386.rpm
of flash player

run cmd #/usr/lib/flash-plugin/setup

checked in url://about:plugins

but still it says no plugin installed ???

wats the sure shot solution to this....

You don't neet to do the setup step. Were you root when you installed the rpm?

ya I m logging as a root...

I get following result when i type in url://about:plugins

Adobe Reader 8.0

File name: nppdf.so
The Adobe Reader plugin is used to enable viewing of PDF and FDF files from within the browser.

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree - That works like a charm if you are in ubuntu. No need to do anything else.
You may try to install the same via yum if you are on Fedora, not sure though whether that works.

And if you are in Slackware just download the slackbuild for Flash-plugin

Guys, he ran an rpm file. Slackware is tgz based and Ubuntu is deb based. OP- go to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins and tell us which files you have in there. If the rpm isn't working, grab the .tar.gz file and install it using those instructions. You could also go back to the Adobe page and follow the instructions for Yum which will make the install even easier.

This is why I don't bother answering questions unless someone specifies their distribution. He's gotten 3 different sets of instructions(all right for their respective distros), but he probably has no clue which one to follow, or flash would work..

Firefox 3 might not be in /usr/lib/firefox. That version wants to place itself in ~ and that is probably where it is unless he did something manually (or unless his repository has it and did something different).

just to say - in dynebolic, (it doesnt have flash on the disc), i went to a webpage with flash on it, it had a "download it here" link, i clicked, it downloaded, and the page worked. on a *live* CD!!! :)

Did you add the repository as per the advice on Adobe's site? If not, do that before running the command.
