Linux email and ms exchange server

Afternoon all,

I am trying to find a program that will run on a Red Hat 2.1 machine that will connect through to my exchange server.

I initially thought of thunderbird but I cant get this to work, I had to build my own rpm and go through that way which for a relative nooob wasn't easy. Can anyone tell me the best free program to use to do this task and where to get it from.

There's a commercial plugin by Ximian for Evolution, that will connect to Exchange.

So can thunderbird actually do the job I am wanting or is it to much of a pain in the arse?
