Linux doesnt boot. Kernel panic!

Hi all,

My sys is a intel p4 2.8ghz ht on intel 101dggc mb, with 512 mb ram and 80 pata hdd.

I have been using fc4 on it.

Now, it is giving this message when I try to login :
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 3 of device 0000:00:00.0

Kernel Panic - not syncing: drivers/ide/pci/atiixp.c:129:spin_lock (drivers/ide/ide.c:c03eb708) already locked by drivers/ide/ide-iopc.c/1235. (Not Tainted).

Plz suggest.

RB.

I've had a similar problem on fedora 3, dont worry about the PCI resource error, my fc5 laptop gives 2 of these, but boots fine. Try selecting an older kernel at the bootloader screen. It will say "Press any key to enter the menu", press enter, then select the kernel below the highlited one, which should be a slightly lower version number. That should work. It looks like the current kernel is trying to use 2 different drivers for your sound card.
