linux display 32 bit graphix

is there any possibility that my Redhat system can display at 32 bits instead at 24. when i try to rdesktop to a windows xp system, i can't go higher than 16 because my display is working at 24, for xp the next step is 32 which is not compatible.

I read somewhere that 24bits on Linux was the same as 32bits in Windows. I can't tell you where I read that. Maybe some knows if this is true?
