It depends on what you mean by Linux. Most new users are referring to their distribution (Fedora Core, Mandriva, SeSE, Ubuntu, etc.). You can check your distribution's web site for information on the key developers.

Each distribution in turn is made up of thousands of packages. Each package has it's own development team. A Google search (or checking the source code) will point you to the developers.

The kernel package is the only software that is correctly called Linux. There is a hierarchy of development teams that handle the subsystems, down to the developers for each driver. The best place to find updated list of who is maintaining what code is the source.

Over all, at any given time, there are millions of individuals all over the world contributing to the software that comprises a major distribution. In the USA alone, approximately 1.5 million software developers contribute to open source development (not all of related to Linux, of course).

There isn't a Fedora 9, not yet anyway. Do you mean Red Hat 9? If so, that's no longer being maintained (and it hasn't been for some time).

Go to the website - do not ask our members to do your homework for you, that's not what LQ is here for.
