Hello, i am with a SUSE 8.0 with a recompiled kernel, the system is fast and stable but at the boot after the kernel loaded i can see some messages like this:
"modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-114"
This does not happen with the original kernel, my kernel recompilation and installation has been made with the corrected procedure. I think there are some modules that the system want to load because the SUSE original kernel needed them, but now i would like to set the system to not try to load those modules, where do i have to set this???
Ah sorry, i was forgetting this:
And if "char-major-114" is important??? Where can i go to see what means this module alias for decide if activate it or suppress???
So it would appear that these messages relate to device drivers (modules) not in your available kernel modules that may or may not be needed by your system.
