Linux based retail POS?

Looking for retail POS software that will run on Linux. Prefer commercial software unless there's a nice a stable OSS alternative which I haven't really found and lots haven't bee active for a while.

Not looking for the hardware+software just the software that can run on a Linux box. Budget is around $1000 but if its good I could go up.

I tested some of those a while ago but no go. It doesn't have to be Open Source as long as it runs on Linux or cross platform. Currently I use ACE Retail and like it but some of the quirks and small bugs drive me up the wall sometimes.

Unfortunately, that sort of specialized software is a weak spot. When it comes to specialized business software, the field of choices is rather narrow because so much of business is committed to a Windows desktop and it's a type of software that a relatively small percentage of coders do for fun (compare the number of media players for Linux, which is overwhelming).

I'll ask around at my LUG.

Yah seems there's not much out there but might be an idea for a business, to create a commercial Linux based POS system.

One of the members of my LUG has a point of sale system at his place (he is sysadmin at a hospital and they use it the gift shop).

They use Quasar and are very happy with it.

Thanks. Actually saw that one a while ago but was a bit put off by the site and no releases since 2011 but after looking deeper into it, it looks promising.
