Hard-core Newbie with 13 different Linux Distributions and Windows XP on my computer. I don't know command lines, don't really know much. I've built and published lots of slide shows and web pages with embedded MIDIs using Win XP and WYSIWYG software. When using any distro of Linux, I can't hear my music that is embedded. Is this just a limitation with Linux that I have to live with? Thanks for any light you can shed on this question.
You can play quicktime in linux. Video works on my linux systems but no sound, might have to google setting up midi capability to get sound although I don't really use quicktime so I don't know for certain.
QuickTime is not available for the Linux platform.
There is a quicktime plugin for firefox, I don't know if it runs on linux. I have it installed. You can do under Tools and then click the plugin tab, you can probably add it.
Can you include a web address that has an embedded mide file so I can check it?
Most slide shows have embedded midi files... I'm using Linux Mint on my box, so I can't use IE to view the slide shows.
ehawk, thanks for your efforts.

I tried loading your web page, but it is displaying "address not found"
You can install and run IE on linux. The most popular way is called ie4linux. Here are the directions for ubuntu. Since linux mint is basically ubuntu, I would think it should be easy for you to install it.

Well...it should be easy for me to install, but I really don't know what I'm doing. I have the ies4linux file on my desktop, but that's as far as I can get... Synaptic Package Manager can't find it with a search... I'm really ignorant.
And, my website would work better with a period instead of a comma, as I gave it to you ehawk. Sorry for the trouble.
