Linus and Alan agree on VM - Alan to take over 2.4?
Looks like Linux and Alan have agreed on the Andrea Arcangeli VM. The interesting part of this article is that it points to Alan taking over 2.4 when 2.5 opens, which is contrary to what was indicated here.

This is probably a dumb question, but who the devil is Alan?

Alan Cox
Alan Cox is the maintainer of the 2.2.X kernel tree. If Linux had a First officer, its him. He also keeps an online journal at: http://www.linux.org.uk/diary/ where he complains about his wife breaking X-windows a lot.

i noticed that article on slashdot today - i think zdnet was just a few days behind on the news. alan's going to be working more away from the kernel over at redhat, and is handing off the 2.4.x tree to someone who's name escapes me at the moment. as far as i understood, alan and linus are both going to be working on 2.5.
