limiting space for new users

i seem to be getting friends and family asking to host web/dns for them.
but i don't want the younger ones getting nuts on uploading a crap load and filling my drives.

i was looking for a sggestion on what to do.
my 1st thought was to leave create new partitions for each usser.
but how would a large host do with thousands of users/clients offering 5gb of space?

thanks

You should use quota to limit the disk space for your users. Take a look at this HOWTO or better this tutorial.
