lilo: try out a new kernel on a headless system

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi!

I want to recompile the kernel of an embedded headless MontaVista-linux system.

For me it would be really important that, if the new kernel wouldn't boot up, the old kernel will be loaded again after I reset the system.

Is there any lilo option which enables me to boot a new kernel for "one time" only?

Of course! :}

Leave the old, trusted kernel as the default,
add the new one, and after having run lilo w/o
arguments then run it with
lilo -R <NewKernelName>

Cheers,
Tink
