lilo - strange

I found something strange in lilo. I am trying to boot puppy in to ram directly from hd and im using lilo. this is my puppy part in lilo:

image=/puppy/boot/vmlinuzpup
label="puppy"
root=/dev/ram0
initrd=/puppy/boot/imagepup.gz
append=""
read-only

Now if i delete the files wmlinuzpup and/or imagepup.gz it still boots?

Some kind of safty(memory)thing? The problem is that then I do not realy know what kernel and image that are used. This is strange.

I think I will try grub insteed. Now but it would be nice with some explanation.

Run the `lilo` command to inform lilo of your config changes and see if it still works afterwards.

done that and then it complans the file/files are missing but the system starts fine even if i deleted the files. Changed to grub and it works fine. Grub seams to be mor direct and sofisticated.
