Ok, i just installed XP and it wasn't as hard as i thought it would. After installing XP i booted into knoppix using the code
knoppix 3
so it would boot into console rather than a gui, after that i mounted my linux partition
mount -t ext3 /dev/hda2 /mnt/hda2 (the linux partition.
then:
chroot /mnt/hda2
after the root partion became my linux partion, i eddited lilo:
vi /etc/lilo.conf
to make sure that lilo saw both linux and windows then saved. Finally i just typed
lilo
and it installed. It was very easy to do. no probs, no errors, and now both work linux and windows works well.
If you ever have to do this again, it's much easier, and the
"preferred method," to install Windoze first, and then Linux,
and add your Linux partition to LILO during the install. If
you do that, none of what you posted is necessary at all.
