Question Lilo boot options?

I did an update recently to get some more software on my machine. Now, when lilo starts I have this options to boot old linux ( among a few other things ). Is it safe to remove this? If it is, what is the procedure?

ok if the new linux is booting fine, then edit /etc/lilo.conf file to remove a section relevant to old linux, save changes and rerun lilo
