LEGO Mindstorms RIS 2.0

I have the Lego Mindstorms RIS 2.0 which uses a USB infrared tower for communication between the computer and robot. I have Legolog code for Linux Red Hat that is designed for RIS 1.5 (using a serial IR tower). I have tried /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 but merely get the message: Permission denied. Any ideas on how I can communicate with the USB IR tower?

make sure you are root when you use it, then you won't get permission problems. Mind you i've no idea if what you tried is the right thing to do...

Honestly, with things this proprietary you're probably hard out of luck until Lego gets around to giving you USB oriented software for Linux. Although, something this low level and non-intensive could probably work with the Win version running under Wine.

Cheers,
