Learning to Use Linux

Can anyone recommend a guide that teaches to use Linux (installing programs, performing basic operations, and other things)? Are there any interactive tools that educate about Linux?

i think it depends on the level of understanding your looking for.

if you want to learn LINUX, i suggest: RUTE and Slackbook

if you want a basic intro, or how to use a specific distribution of linux, check out the distribution's documentation on their website.

among many others, there is this one, from tldp.org

there is an overwhelming amount of information for linux. besides these references, google.com/linux is the next best place to start searching i think.

i find the best way to learn it is, first get a basic understanding/history/intro, and then install linux or use a liveCD.

good luck :)

the first and best thing to do is tell us what you have so far. Do you have Linux installed? What things have you used it for.

In addition to the other suggestions--"Linux in a Nutshell"--O'Reilly. At their website or Amazon. Also look at the Safari on-line service at O'Reilly.
