So I am trying to install Mandrake 9 on my PC, which I have done a few times before. The only difference is that I now own a nice Samsung SyncMaster 191T (19") flat panel LCD display. It seems that during the X server configuration in the setup process that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get something working. Now I ask you, why won't the X server work properly? It is working during the install!!! I understand that the packaged nvidia drivers might not work in digital output mode, which I am using. But is there any other way to get the output working for Mandrake, like a simple generic driver? Perhaps the one that the install process uses, just until a hacked "digital output" compatible driver surfaces for Mandrake? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys...
Will these drivers work with "DIGITAL OUTPUT" mode? I don't have the analog output connected to my video card, only the DVI connecter to my LCD display...
I had the same problem as khermans (Mandrake install looked fine, but monitor would not sync after install). I have a Creative LCD flat panel, connected to an NVidia TNT2 using a digital DFP connector. I'm now using the standard XFree4 vesa driver and the generic 1024x768 flat panel display setting. It seems to work just fine, except a bit slower than when I run windows.
