I see.. actually I prefer WYSIWYG in page layout, certanly, for the pages (artwork) I do where the look-and-feel, namely, color, composition etc are essential.

There's a pulldown menu in your user cp now dude, welcome to guru-dom joker.

Oh, and to stay on topic I think Latex may be pure evil incarnate!

Another editor suggestion for creating Latex source: Nedit. It has good highlighting and indenting for various languages, is small and portable, and has Windows-style key bindings.

Vim and Emacs are great, too, but unless you learn the bindings, they can be a bear.

Of course, as a Slackware user, I'd say take the time to learn Vim :-)

Just can't familiarize myself with the
"modes" of Vim ... :) ... I know a few basics,
so I can fix a screwed up file from my boot
disk, but give me emacs anytime ;)

Back on topic: Klyx should be worth a
closer look :)

Cheers,
Tink

had the same trouble till i was forced to use vim for a latex
lab project, vim was the only prog that supported hebrew.

about latex, if your gonna be using a lot of math symbols,
and the paper is longer than two pages latex is the only way to go.
