Exclamation Laptop LCD blanks, but dosnt turn off completely

I haev Kubuntu Edgy 6.10. My LCD used to turn off completely aftet a certain amount of minute i had specified. Now when i do this, and then after the amount of time, the display completely will shut off, but 10 seconds later the backlight will go on. If i do 'xset dpms force off' , it will shut the display completely, and again it will put the backlight on 10 sec. later. Please help, how can i turn my monitor off completly.
