konqueror lower right corner what is that?

what is the box used for in konqueror lower right corner?
i click it uncheck and click again it check.
what its for. dont notice any difference.

i'm using kde 3.1

i'm using kde 3.1
Right click rather than left click. It changes the view of the split of that window when used as a file browser.
