Unhappy knoppix display problems

hi!

I don't know if I'm posting in the right section..If I ain't sorry!!

Well, I downloaded Knoppix 5.1.1 cd and I booted it in my laptop but the display doesn't work!!

It boots perfectly but when kde starts I can only see the desktop made of weird lines.Well, I realised it was the desktop screen because the mouse works fine an I was able to close the Konqueror page that knoppix opens at start..

I tryed to manually configure vsync=60 because of my laptop's monitor and I also tryed to put the resolution manually..nothing seems to work!

[ EDIT: ati radeon x700 128Mb graphic card, amd turion 64bit mt-34 @1.8Ghz processor, 1Gb Ram... ]

can anyone help?

thanks!
reguards,
Rubber. :-}

If your internet connection is working, google up a copy of knoppix cheatcodes. At startup, you can enter a boot parameter such as "screen=1280x1024" (without quotes), or some other screen resolution, to see if that works.
