KMix 'Mute All' DCOP?

Well, I know there are many ways to mute in KMix (I think I've futzed with them all), and that seems to be my problem. Too many options! I have a Dell Inspiron with those nifty multimedia keys and while they all seem to work quite well natively with KDE and KMilo, I'm having an issue with muting. It seems my XF86Audio key for muting only sends the signal to mute the master channel, not all of them- which is quite useless when trying to mute MP3 or video sound, as they use PCM.

Does anyone know the DCOP equivalent to right clicking on the KMix icon in the systray and selecting Mute? That seems to be the only way I've found to mute everything at once as it looks like it mutes at the base soundcard level, not by channel.

...one by one, I'm tweaking this system to work -just- how I want it. I'm >< close.

That is different than my setup. When I muted the master channel it silences all sound on mine. Just the Master Volume goes mute while the rest stays the way they are. I myself have tried to do the DCOP thing and more than anything kept running in a block wall.

With KDE I have written three scripts to do the job for me. Check it out here post #7.

Now what is does is muted the master channel on card -c0 which is the first sound card on my system. Once done it rewrites the volumemute file to set it up to unmute master on the next key press of F10.

Now if you have already have a key for mute and produces the XF86Audio equivlent then instead of setting the hotkey as describe to F10 you can hit the key for mute you want. If it displays the correct XF86**** enter then great. If not then may have to map it in your /etc/Xmodmap file. here is a sample of mine. I got the keycode from the xev command.

Without DCOP, I use xbindkeys for this:
