KMid problem

Hi folks,

Fedora Core 3

On playing a midi file with KMid, following warning popup;

Could not open /dev/sequencer.
Probably there is another program using it.

# ls -al /dev/ | grep sequencer
No printout

# yum search sequencer
could not find it

Where can I have this device installed.

TIA

B.R.

i'm going to assume you are using udev and alsa
you need to load the sound modules (sequencer) at boot for it's device node to get created

Hi foo_bar_foo,

Tks for your advice.

Please advise how to do it.

I found follows;
# lspci | grep -i audio
Code:
00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 10)
# cat /etc/modprobe.conf
Code:
alias eth0 8139too
alias snd-card-0 snd-via82xx
options snd-card-0 index=0
install snd-via82xx /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-via82xx && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
remove snd-via82xx { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-via82xx
alias usb-controller uhci-hcd
# hwbrowser
Code:
Sound cards;
VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller
Whether to run
# system-config-soundcard

TIA
