Unhappy kmail deleting mail

I have what my ISP calls a "family" account. We get two email addresses with the same ISP. My problem is whomever picks up their email first deletes the others email. I have sent test emails to each address from my blackberry and our email is strickly first come first serve. Either I delete her mail by picking up mine or she deletes mine by picking up hers. I of course contacted my ISP about this and the tech support was about as usefull as tits on a bull. First question open up you outlook express...I am not using outlook express...what? Has anyone else had this problem. I am using Suse 8.1 with kmail and connecting to the internet via an internal modem through kinterent.

This is a suggestion. You could set up both ID's to leave the mail on the server. Once in a while, depending on the storage size on the server, you will have to delete the mail on the server.

Once set up this way, a new ID connecting should download the mail, and you won't be deleting each others.

On Kmail, go to Settings -->Configure Kmail --> Network --> Receiving -->highlight the account --> Modify --> General tab There is a box to check "Delete Messages from server after fetching. Uncheck the box.

To delete the messages periodically, you could set up another machine, or e-mail program to download the e-mail. I run mine this way, just in case I have an unrecoverable error on my main machine, I still have a copy on the server. Most ISP's will send you a nasty gram if you fill up your disk space on the server.

Some ISP's allow you to access your e-mail through a web browser. You may be able to delete the old stuff that way also.

Hope this helps.
