Kmail and GnuPG

I'm testing GnuPG with Kmail and I sent myself an encrpyted message, however when I got the message it just says

Encrypted message (decryption not possible)
Reason: Crypto plug-in "openpgp" could not decrypt the data.
Error: Bad passphrase

I know the password but I can't seem to find anywhere to enter it, could someone point me to the right place please

When you go to KMail's setup, security, Crypto-plugins ... what
do you see?

OpenPG (GnuPG) is top of the list. I clicked configure and had a look around without any luck

Does gpg work happily from the command-line? If you encrypt a file, can
you look at it afterwards? Also, have you signed your own keys and established
a trust? Is pinentry installed on your system?

Ok. The next idea would be (I'm not familiar with KMail in a
debian-setup) to strace kmail, and see what it tries to do around
the time of that message ...

You might want to take a look at this KDE mailing list thread.
