Okay, let me be a little more specific. When I'm running KDE and I choose the logout option then the reboot option the computer begins to shutdown. It tells me what is going on such as threads that are closing and such. This is where I get the killall failed message.
Okay, I'm really new to this Linux thing. In fact, I looked at it for the first time 3 days ago. But, I was having the same problem, and traced it to "samba."
I uninstalled it and now the problem is gone.
I hope this helps!
