I once used this application : xbindkeys + xbindkeys-config

http://packages.debian.org/sid/xbindkeys
> Links for xbindkeys
> [xbindkeys_1.8.2.orig.tar.gz]
( Copy xbindkeys.rc to /home/'user'/.xbindkeys.rc ).

http://packages.debian.org/sid/xbindkeys-config
> Links for xbindkeys-config
> [xbindkeys-config_0.1.3.orig.tar.gz]

Just type : xbindkeys-config in the terminal ...
... and use the GUI. I get ' Mod5 + 4 | m:0x80 + c:13 '
for ' $ ' with the Danish keyboard.

So is it such a code you want to find , or ?
.....

EDIT : In Ubuntu ( Intrepid ) just do
sudo apt-get install xbindkeys xbindkeys-config
.. .. = very small packages : 34 kB + 20 kB.
.....

If you are trying to make a keymap for yourself, you might want to consider looking first at the keymaps packaged with your distro. /usr/share/keymaps/ holds them on my machine. You can use xev to determine what keycode refers to what key, or you can look at the current keymap that you are using and redefine the as you see fit. Be sure to not modify the original and create your own, or it will be much more difficult to revert.

Finally, installation:
I have Xorg setup to allow two keymaps. The portion of xorg.conf that is pertinant to this is:

Code:
Section "InputDevice"
   Identifier "Keyboard0"
   Driver "kbd"
   Option "XkbLayout" "us,es"
   Option "XkbOptions" "grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:num"
EndSection
This will allow for switching between the two determined layouts. Indicated the secondary by illuminating the numlock led.
Hope this helps, in some manner.
