Keyboard not working until Linux is loaded

I own a LG E500, a laptop, with 3 Gb RAM and dual boot Kubuntu 4.02 and Windows Vista

Everything worked fine until yesterday, when I wanted to boot in Windows. Grub didn't recognise ANY input. I tried to load the BIOS configuration (F2) but I didn't work.

Now, in every boot, I can only wait for the timer to expire and the default entry to be automatically selected.

Help is appreciated.

I'm not sure this has anything to do with your problem, but I found a thread on the Ubuntu forums http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-110730.html that discusses a similar issue. The solution in that case was to change a bios setting so that the bios controlled the keyboard instead of the OS. The trick, of course, is getting into the bios settings during boot. Either escape or F2 should do it, I think. You just have to be fast and repetitive about it.

Your problem seems different, though. Everything worked fine until yesterday, and you didn't make any changes that you know of to the configuration?

No, I've done nothing but the usual Kubuntu updates.

The keyboard only works after Grub has loaded an image, thus it doesn't work in the boot process neither in Vista.

The only thing I've done was to try what was on this thread, but I've reinstalled GRUB with Puppy Linux (one of the few distributions that doesn't require me to deactivate acpi to boot), so it shouldn't be GRUB's problem.

I've found a similar problem in a Mandriva forum, but I can't find the config file mentioned.

The Device manager identifies the port as i8042 KBD port and the info.product as AT translated Set 2 keyboard. Is this any good?
