Keyboard no response
 

I just newly installed Mandriva free 2006 in my removable HD.
After sucessfully installed, it booted and stopped at the login screen, it's amazed that the keyboard gave no response. And also the mouse.

How to solve it ?

Are you using a USB keyboard or mouse ? Do you have "USB Legacy support" in the BIOS turned on ?

My guess is Mandriva fails to boot and hangs.

In a Standard installation Grub can't boot from a USB device.

How about LILO ? I use LILO instead of Grub !

Nop. Lilo won't do.

The problem I believe is to do with the speed the system files being loaded by the USB device can't match the expectation of the Linux boot loaders complied to work with the PC internal bus. I believe there are various ways to overcome it. Some place the kernel in the HD or floppy so that it is available sooner. Others simply go for a slower boot loader like isolinux.
