Question Keyboard mapping

I'm wondering how to map a script to a keyboard key one of the ones i don't use.
i have looked up all the programs and text i could find on google but nothing really solid has popped up. the general idea is to run it from the GUI (KDE) preferably in the background as it takes awhile for it to run.

I believe you have to use C native lib to do this mapping.
