Keyboard and X problems with Ortek MCK-6000
OK, I've been silly and purchased a cheap Ortek MCK-6000 keyboard (multimedia variety). Now it comes with a windows driver and that all works perfect. Well, I use Linux about 99% so I need it to work here. Well, out of the function keys, only F1 and F5 send the equivalent proper key mapping (checked using xev). The rest of the fn keys are useless in that they send all sorts of wrong keycodes (e.g. F2 sends the keycodes for CTRL n).
As you can guess, this is a bit of a problem.
Now, I was under the understanding that all keys should send unique keycodes and therefore I could do the usual and use xmodmap to change the mapping. Well, as you see from the above example, this doesn't seem to be the case.
What is going on?
Barring getting another multimedia keyboard, any suggestions? If not, anybody recommend a reasonable priced multimedia keyboard that behaves properly under linux?
