Just wandering if someone could give me some pointers on having a smooth kernel upgrade. We are upgrading from 2.2.x to 2.4.x. The thing we think might cause the most problems is the ipchains. We are upgrading an entire cluster which is connected to a myranet and then the main node connects out to the rest of the network and we really don't want to mess that up. So if anyone has any tips for downloading a new kernel, compiling it, and installing it... please send them this way. Thanks.
from 2.2 to 2.4, you need to also update the modutils and ppp utils. if you've never upgraded a kernel before, you might want to take a standalone and try to upgrade that first, just to iron out any other questions you might have.
