Kernel Panic: Resume Machine: Unable to find suspended-data signature ( - mispelled?
Howdy all:
Trying to put a new system together for my parents and have come up with this problem. I had initially partitioned the hard drive (120 Gig) to have 3 partitions (30 gig, 30 gig, 60 gig) and installed win2kPro on the first partition. (by the way, the Western Digital setup disk made all 3 partitions MS type filesystems the first NTFS, the other two FAT32). After applying all the udates for win2kPro I installed Mandrake 10 on the second 30 gig partition. I also split up the 60 gig partition into a 1 gig /swap partition then several 8 gig FAT32 partitions. When I returned to win2kPro it was seeing the two linux partitions and freaking out, so I went into the Device Manager and told it to stop trying to manage the two linux partitions. Now win2kPro works fine again, but now when I try to boot into linux I get the following error: resuming from /dev/hda6 Resuming from device hda6 Kernel Panic: Resume Machine: Unable to find suspended-data signature ( - mispelled? I tried putting the first mandrake cd in the drive and rebooted in rescue mode and listing the partitions does not report the two linux partitions. I've booted up into Knoppix off the live cd and again, the / and /swap partitions are not shown. What have I done and can I recover the partitions without having to start the linux install all over (can I recover what was there already somehow)? Appreciating any help (I love a good problem to solve.) ToddM |
ok, at the boot prompt entered "linux noresume" and now this is what I get:
. . . Resume Machine: Resuming from device hda6 disabled . . . Try passing init= option to kernel. have I just totally fragged this or what? I can start over, but I don't want to if I don't have to. Thanks |
