Hi,

On boot up this morning I got this error in the attachment I upload.

I think this is the error:
kernel panic - not syncing VFS unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

I'm not sure what to do?

The drive appears in the bios.

It gets to the group menu then this error after the grub menu.

The boot drive is an internal drive.

I think the important error message is "Initramfs unpacking failed: broken padding".

Unless you just attempted to upgrade your kernel/initramfs, this is most likely a hardware issue. Probably a bad drive, but it could also be motherboard/RAM/controller related.

Thank you, it's a boot drive so ext2 will try drive on another box.

I wondered if it could be a RAM failure, rather hoping it was.

This was the hard drive that is in the process of dying.
