Kernel Panic (!) - not syncing
Recently installed Fedora3. Today installed a driver for my BT voyager 100 ADSL modem (well I got as far as installing the .rpm package) at which point I gave up after not being able to ./configure.
On restart my system hangs at 'Configuring Kernel parameters' part of bootup. I did a debug on restart and all went well until this: Mount:error 6 mounting ext3 Mount:error 2 mounting none Switching to new root Switchroot: Mount failed:22 Umount /initrd/dv failed:2 Kernel panic - not syncing attempting to kill init! System hangs, repeated this with ADSL unattached & ditto.... Seeing as I only saw the light yesterday, I have absolutely no idea of what I am doing, but isnt that part of the fun? I've got no problem with a clean install solution, but I would like to 'know' whats going on? Anyone..... |
you need to see if the fedora install disk has a revoery mode and make usre your disks are ok. secondly was the rpm you installed for your version of FEDORA? if there's no recovery mode boot option for Fedora, I'd get a gentoo liveCD, and then try to follow the gentoo howto to make sure your hard drives will stil mount (this hsould also work under fedora).
