when configuring a new kernel for compiling, does it matter if I add support for scsi emulation (for a cdr/w) and support for standard cdrom at the same time. And should they be setup as modules or built into the kernel?
If you don't include the scsi-emulation, then you won't be able to use your burner. It can quite happily sit on the same system as generic ide cdrom 'drivers'. Oh, and make them as modules.
